WWO Fantasy Speedway League 2001
The
final results for the 2001 league, unfortunately the title has gone to a
non-Atkins person for the first time. However, it has gone to a worthy winner
who has proved himself on the track as well as. Adrian Sadler (Rob’s brother
for those who don’t know) has snatched the title away from Justin with a
massive last week score of 93 points, beating Justin by only six points –
pretty close as usual!!
In third place for the
second year running was Sue’s Shale Shifters – a model of consistency, with
Paul Brayshaw a close fourth (I bet he never did go and see the Isle of Wight
Islanders in all the time he was on the Island!!).
Other notable
performances were;
·
Rob letting
Adrian beat him by a mile – just like on the track – fighting talk!! (Lets
see what he’s like on a bobsleigh!)
·
Dorothy making
up from a very poor start to the season climbing from 20th to finish eighth and
·
Andy Swain
somehow finishing in a not too unrespectable 11th (in the top half of the table
at least).
On the poor performance
side;
·
Andy Taylor
was unlucky not beat his best ever result of 12th with a 14th place finish –
he was only edged out on the last week by Neil and Hoff scoring well – I can
see a team change, how about The Collin Rickardson Loram’s next year?
·
Derby Office
in general – very poor with Neil in 12th, Andrew in 19th,
Alan in 21st and Richard in 22nd,
·
However,
Andrew Hagger take the wooden spoon not even managing to get into four figures
and only 780 points behind Adrian!!
·
Previous
winner Des and Simon didn’t do too well but in mitigation both used last
year’s teams and both lost Joe Screen with a broken leg very early in the
season.
Anyway the results stand
for themselves so study them and start thinking about next years squads,
remembering the averages of the riders will change as may the team points limit.
